Saturday Lunch with Munch BBQ… 3awar Qalb!!!

Warning: This is going to be a long post with lots of lovely pictures and delicious food description.

Since this time of year is the prime time for BBQ’s and outdoorsy gathering… I received a very generous offer from Munch Catering to provide us with a complimentary BBQ. We decided that Saturday would be a good day to have BBQ Munch…

The pictures above show in detail how organized, how clean, how skillfull, how compact, how efficient their service is! 1:30 P.M. on the dot and the Munch Catering van was at our door…

They brought their own grills which were gas operated so they didn’t take long to start the fire. There brought the food in one big container, everything clean and separately packaged. The supplies were in another container. and they even brought their own garbage bin!

Although they brought two grills and one serving station, they didn’t take much space at all! 2X2 metre square of available space would be more than enough! The BBQ chef is a very nice guy whose efficient and very clean. Dettol l was used when needed and he changed his gloves whenever he handled a new item of food which ranks very high in my dictionary.

The presentation of the food in their own wooden trays was amazing. My family loved the restaurant feel it provided… it was like having a restaurant at home! Every item of food took exactly 7 minutes to prepare and grill so the food kept coming and coming and we… well no pun intended but we munched munched munched :p

What did we have?! The menu was AMAZING! As a vegetarian it is really hard for me to get excited about BBQ for the lack of food options available to me. Not this time nooo…

The salads were dressed first… there were two salads that i was told i was the first to try: 1- Asparagus Bean & Rice Salad 2- Nachos Salad.

Although i am not a fan of rice in salads i loved that one! Rice and peas and chopped veggies and asparagus… it WORKED! Very very yummy indeed!!!

But what i loved even more… the Nachos salad… you might think nachos salad? yeah everybody makes nacho salads what’s so special? I tell you… yes everybody can make nacho salads… not everybody can make a nacho salad with THAT amazing dressing… it has a non mexican herb that i cannot put my finger on + some sort of sweetness… the combination is DYNAMITE! No really it’s so good… everyone kept having seconds and with every bite they would go “mmmm”… even my sister who is allergic to kidney beans couldn’t resist trying it after she saw how we were all raving about it! If you are ordering a BBQ from Munch… the first thing to order is their new Nachos Salad!!!

Now for the grilled items:

First grilled item on the menu: “Grilled Asparagus with Picorino Cheese”… The asparagus were just the right crunch! Perfect for this time of year!

Next item on the menu: Grilled vegetables… Carrots, Red Peppers, and Baby Corn in some very yummy dressing ❤ It made me really really happy!

Next item on the menu: Grilled Portabello Mushrooms! I don’t know what did they dress it with… but they turned out to be something very very yummy! Even our picky eaters who don’t like mushrooms grabbed themselves a little silver fork -which is very cute by the way- and marvelled at the chunky mushroom bite with the tangy baslamicy taste… Best in Q8 so far!

Next on the menu was the Garlic Aioli Chicken… cooked to perfection and cut into bite sized strips and poked with the forks… they were a big hit!

Next came the Pizza’s! first the chef made the pizza bases from the dough and grilled them, then he added the toppings for each pizza! The first pizza, Buffalo Mozzarella Pizza, was just divine… the soft peaks of Buffallo mozzarella melting slowly on top of the tomato sauce speckled with slivers of oregano… brrr…

Then came the Chunky Veggi pizza and the Mushroom heaven pizza… mushroom heaven it was! and the Chunky Veggi  lived up to it’s name! I don’t know which to like best… not your usual combination of toppings i tell you…

After we gorged ourselves with pizza… came the Wagyu Steak Bites… i can’t talk about that one. The wooden board that emptied in an instant is a statement on how good it was. They say it’s their best seller and it was in fact a best seller at our lunch table!

Next came the Shrimp and Hamoor Satay with Almond Sauce and Cucumber Relish… very unusual mix of flavors… very tropical and perfect for those who are not vegetarians but are steering away from Red meat!!!

Next came the Italian Burgers! little grilled meat patties topped with buffalo mozzarella cheese… they are supposed to come with Mushroooms, Caramalized onions, Rocket Leaves, and some sort of yummy pink dressing… we had two of those done while the rest were only cheese and burger because my picky siblings and cousins would rather they smear and put whatever they want on their burgers if they wanted anything… those who had the burgers the way they are supposed to be were very very happy indeed!!! Big winner!

But the one that made everyone swoon was the Mexican Burger… they said there is a hint of spiciness in the patty… and the patty was made with cheese inside so i guess it was extra cheesy! It comes with guacamole and tomato salsa -we had them on the side for the picky eaters- and the non picky ones slathered their burgers with the guacamole & salsa and they thought it was a winning combination. They were the 2nd big hit on the menu after the wagyu bites!!!

Are we done yet?

Nooooo… Nuttella Pizza… i have never seen a dessert disappear that fast in my life. Need i say more?

Then came the white chocolate bread pudding!!! It was out of this world! AMAZING! If i weren’t already too full i would have had seconds and thirds!!!

The moment the chef was done grilling, he simply and quietly packed up, no mess, no fuss, and in a few minutes it was over… the van came and took every thing away, and not a single atom of garbage or dirt was left behind… it was as if they were never there…! Amazing service!

A note on quantity: although the food was supposed to be for ten people it was more than enough with plenty to go for more people!!!

What more can you ask for? good weather, lovely cosy company, delicious food that tastes out of this world and a fun experience with lovely presentaion…

Congratulations Munch on a job well done. I had never ever had someone cater a gathering at our house with such fun and good food. We had so much fun today we are already thinking of having another gathering on Wednesday just to order Munch… yes that fun and that good!

Thank you Munch very very much… for making the first Saturday of winter 2010 a memorable one! We cannot wait for the next time we have  you guys over… very soon Insha2 Allah 😀

By the way you can always order the food to grill from MUNCH and grill them at your own convenience! My mother wants to order the burger patties and freeze them for the future… keep in mind that my mother HATES burgers!!! But she loved the MUNCH ones… and they are so worth it 😀

Sa7tayn! I can see where one would have to pace themselves if they were going to enjoy everything. Looks fabulous, I don’t think we have anything remotely like it in the Magic Kingdom.

    One can dream…

Why dream?! You can start your own business or franchise MUNCH if you have the resources… you know it’s a matter of time until all the trends we have in Q8 are spread to the gulf! Why don’t you be the pioneer of that 🙂
