Help Needed: Which BBQ Service to Choose?

HELP!

I have been asked to arrange a BBQ for 20 people. Now i am a vegeterian who knows nill about how to BBQ -i BBQ my own paneer cheese and veggies but i doubt the ppl would appreciate that- i must choose a BBQ Service, must be an excellent one, design the menu, and make arrangements for desserts afterwards.

Now after going through Facebook and the Blogsphere i know i have those several choices:

1- Abu Abdulla’s Grills: His food and Arayes are said to be amazing and it’s a no fuss approach to BBQing. But i heard his food is not covered or frozen but i am not sure if thats true or not?

2- Q8 BBQ They have a large variety of marinades and combinatins and they seem to know what they are doing plus you can order online! But again i don’t know about their service or the taste of their food.

3- Munch’s BBQ the most reviewed BBQ service around. I like what i have seen esp. the BBQ pizza. I don’t know how it compares in taste to the other BBQ places though.

4- BBQ @ Home: I like that they come and setup a booth at the dining place but i don’t know about the taste?

5- The Little Oven: Their pictures look good but i never heard anyone reviewing them before so i wouldn’t know the taste?

Have you tried any of the above BBQ services before? Can you recommend any of them? Do you have anymore places that i do not know about? and what desserts do you think complements the BBQ food? Your help is highly and desperately needed… much obliged 😀

i tried both munch and bu abdullah.

Bu abdullah: food comes covered, he’s really clean. his stuff is more like arabic bbq, ya3ny the best 3arays i ever tasted, kebabs, tekka, shish tawouq, hummus and co.
if ur goin for this kinda bbqs, go for him, hes the best.

munch: a7is their portions are 7ada 7ada, 3ndhum burgers, steaks, pizzas, ya3ny its more like western bbq. i read in one of the blogs ena they can arrange dessert catering too, scoop-a-cone chenna..

    all the best! 🙂

  3. Hey Dandooona :*

I was the one who did their review on ilsul6ana blog back when I was a guest writer:

    http://www.ilsul6ana.com/2010/01/15/guest-writer-%e2%80%9cyours-truly%e2%80%9d-munch-bbq-review/#comments

I loved it. But one thing to note, if your guests are looking for a traditional BBQ, Munch is not it. Munch offers more of a modern BBQ.Not what a traditional BBQ looks like. You will not have kebabs, big steaks, hot dogs, chicken and meat tikkas. However the wagu steak bites are to die. Burgers very juicy. Juice to kill for!

If you are ok with that then for sure go for it. And don’t forget to order the Arabic mezze platter. Great for vegeterians. The pizza also is so yummy.

Thank you hon. Their only problem is that they don’t provide the BBQ set but i don’t see why i can’t have a combination of food from them and elsewhere…

  10. Hi,

This is an honest & unbiased opinion from a guy who bbqs each & every weekend in the chaleh. We are a group of about 20 guys & we bbq every Friday night, we have tried 80% of all the bbq providers in Kuwait & our breakdown is as follows:

Munch: Excellent service, on time arrive in the chaleh . They set up everything & they come extremely prepared. The food was good, some items were better than others but overall the food was good. It isn’t your traditional bbq but they have very good grilled pizzas, mini burgers etc…

Q8BBQ: The most amazing marinades I have ever tired in Kuwait. The owner is very dedicated to his business so everything is very fresh. You have to place the order 48 hours before your delivery date. The secret is all in the marinade. This is probably my favorite place, the only downside is that you have to bbq (I don’t mind that since we enjoy the actual cooking).

Grillo: These guys come prepared with a Saj station & a deep fryer. They don’t bbq per say, they grill hamburgers, fry chicken nuggets, & fries. Their saj station is nice.

Bu Abdullah: Very efficient & methodical, his food is fresh & tastes very good. He is very clean. The guys do enjoy his bbqing

Prime Cuts: This is more of a butcher shop where you can buy freshly ground wagyu burgers (they also deliver), amazing if you know how to cook them correctly.

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.

OK first of all thank you very much for taking the time to reply.

Hmmm i think they won’t mind doing the grilling themselves. I heard Q8 bbq’s marinades were amazing but i am not sure if they have the supplies. Maybe i will get bu3bdallah and get more food from Q8 BBq? i would have to check if i can do the mix and match thing…

Thanks again. Your comment is very helpful 🙂

    I’ve tried bo 3abdullah, Munch, and BB@home .. here’s what I think

1- Bo 3abdullah’s 3arayes is so good .. his reyash is forgettable, and his all other mashawee (kabab and stuff are ok)

2- Munch .. is actually a very very different BBQ atmosphere. the food selections, the presentation and everything about it feels something new .. I loved their mini burgers .. it melts in your mouth! their steaks are really good .. now the drawback.. it’s expensive, you have to choose the quantity before they come and do your bbq, and it’s not the kind of BBQ I would order for (Shabab) la’na rabe3na ekeeela mashallah 😛 it’s more family friendly kind of BBQ.

3- BBQ@home is not your best bbq from the list yet it’s nice .. really great for the whole family and anyone else .. they prepare everything and place it on the counter .. so it’s like a buffet type.

Not too many comments on dessert. For something meat-heavy I prefer fruit sorbet, fruit salad and maybe something like a collection of cupcakes for those who want something less acidic, I don’t like buying big cakes unless it’s an occasion like a birthday or anniversary.

Yeah i noticed that the desserts comments didn’t exist!
Thats a great idea! A fruit salad or a cold fruit sorbet would complement the BBQ perfectly and would be light enough! Thanks Hon!
