You are Not Allowed to Spittle in Mubarkiya…

I saw this sign while walking the streets of the Old Souk in Mubarikiya… on one hand i am glad there is a low against spitting… i never knew it was never allowed…

On the other hand… for gods sake who uses the word spittle? I have never heard of it before i saw this sign…  what is wrong with “Spitting is not allowed” o khalas? why use a fancy word like spittle -if it was correct-? A person who is willing to spit on the ground and reads English would certainly relate to Spit instead of Spittle…
