Lost in Translation: Badliya or a New Word?

Standing in line at the KNCC consession stand, i read the above advertisement… “Production: The first Magazine for Creatives in the Middle East”

Now what is wrong with that sentence? When was the word “Creatives” Invented?

I thought Creative was an adjective! The only was for it to have a plural form is if it came with a noun… Creative People Creative Books Creative Minds Creative Blogs…

Lakin Creatives?! Maybe it’s a new thing b3d who knows… yeah gayma ib shary il yoom…

  1. If they would only hire students for minimum wage to translate stuff like that for them.. life would be so much better..
I mean if they can’t speak or write English, why not hire a better person to do it??

It can be also used as a noun, which I believe what was intended in that sentence.

  5. LOL ur one to talk! have u read ur own posts lately???

a quick google search would’ve saved u from embarrassing urself, mz. calling the kettle black.

their sentence is perfectly fine. “creatives” is a perfectly accurate word, even in that sentence structure.

i suggest u get off ur high horse, wayed m9adga 3omrich ya wannabe landaneya. i’d worry about my own sucky, not-worth-a-crap, cant-believe-u-studied-english-ur-writing-is-atrocious writing before i worry about other people’s use of language.

Creatives is indeed used in this context to refer to ppl like “creative directors” etc..

many of the newly-created business terms are not “real” words.. e.g. creatives, learnings, masterplan. they are all derived from a longer phrase 🙂

I just realized that… but then since it is specific to the marketing advertisement and business areas… other areas do get confused 😉

      Good to know

just right now I read the flow of comments, and hate comments.. It’s actually funny.. dont let it get to you… its amazing 😀

if they hate you so much, why do they read it!

I found it more funny than annoying.. we all know some stuff and dont know others, the worst thing is to be condescending to others with your knowledge, which is what the “why dont you f* google it” girl did.

Exactly o have been reading for a while… why bother if it’s so bad?
maybe you know the word creatives but i know a whole dictionary of words they wouldn’t encounter in a life time because of my profession… do i have the right to attack someone because of that?

A civil conversation is impossible these days!

You are welcome… it doesn’t sound right still but since it’s being used in marketing i guess it must be correct…
