Dathra il yoom tabi itgolokom 3n moshkilat.ha il 3aweesa wya ikhtera3 ismah ootee..
El ootee bel Q8 shay2 jedan mohim. I believe inah lo insader il ooties ilee in every single house in q8 we will resolve the traffic jam trouble as 99% of the q8y population will refuse to go out of their homes and seen in public with unironed clothes…
I have realized that fact ever since i was little… the basic basic element of Khashkha o Razza o Sakba o Zgrt in Q8 is going out with perfectly smooth fresh ironed clothes and shiny gleaming shoes…
Fa how does my dethara come in the way?!
Two problems really… divided into two eras…
Era 1: Before my Marriage…
In daddys house all my clothes were taken care of by the maids and the dry cleaners… the real problem came when i wanted to go out in my freshly straightened clothes…
2 minutes after i wore them.. my restlessness would wrinkle them!
No matter how much i try, how still i stay, how careful i am… i end up with wrinkles in my clothes… especially if there is a car ride involved!
And i always always envied those girls and guys who would stay out all day long -especially at work- and then go home and hand up their still perfectly straight clothes in their cupboards…
The moment i take my garments off, i will be amazed by the amount of creases i find, i do not know how i acquired them… i see no solution for my problem… and this delimma is continuing until this day!
Whats ur secret?! Do share for i have had enough nasty comments…
Now era 2: aFter marriage..
At first i tried to handle the ironing… yeah didnt work out right… so i have decided to pay a little fortune and have all my clothes ironed at the nice clean nearby laundry with the home delivery service.. still would get them wrinkled after wearing them…
Now i have gotten used to the stares and zaffat and te3eyeb and such… shasawee ib 3omry b3d? Unless i wear an armor im going to BADLY crease everything i wear!
One day… in a wedding, i have just brought back my dress from the laundry, wore it and went to the wedding… i go in only to realize that the back had been creased soooo badly the already short skirt has made it 20 cm above my knees from the back only and the front is as is!!! Needless to say i stayed in my seat the whole time clapping and obsessing about my now creased dress!!!!
Anyhoo..
Now why am i writing this? IF i had made my piece with the wrinkled clothes?
Ahhhh
now we come to the latest stab i got… few weeks back..
You see… less than a year ago, i decided to wear the 7ejab.
But i have forgotten one important thing when i made that decision… 7ejabs need to be ironed!!!!
The first time i bought a group of 7ejabat -and got many as gifts from happy friends… thanx guys i know ur reading this :*- i knew they needed washing…
Some where -stupidly- stuffed into my trusty washing machine along with a gr0up of newly bought im6aat* thingyes
The im6at came out with the elastic wrinkled… some 7ejabat survived… others inta7raw
So i knew they had to be *HAND WASHED*
Khair insha2 allah… that was it… i put allll of them into one big bogsha… and helloooo laundry… come pick them up!
Now… they were back allright…
I took one… wore it, it was perfectly pressed… 2 minutes after trying to wear it, and trying to jab pins into it to hold it in place, the fella was all wrinkled!
Then a few days later… i decided to take another one from the still covered 7ajabat..
Unfortunately they were folded onto hangers… and each 7ejab now had a perfect folding mark that divided it into squares…
What that means is… i WILL HAVE TO IRON THEM MY SELF THEN!
The first one i ironed.. burnt through
The 2nd one, i ironed with a loooow heat… it took forever to smooth out…
Then i discovered the miracle of squirting water into the 7ejab before ironing…
YEt again.. i would spend like… one hour per 7ejab every single night… then try and look for a long smooth surface to spread the 7ejab on so it would not wrinkle… i would be sweating by the time i was done…
I would put it on, try to fix it to stay in place and look presentable…
and no matter how careful i am… it will still be wrinkled out… badly…
and this scenario has been going on for almost a year now…
Iron, Spread, WEar and have it wrinkled…
Not to mention the wrinkling it will get when im driving or resting my hair back or when a strong gust of wind would blow it off and i would have to scramble for it….
Then i discovered, three days ago… that ironing a 7ejab with a steamer would take only 3 minutes tops!!!! and that steamers are probably MADE to iron 7jabs!!!!
Still… i would wear it the next day… and VOILA! Wrinkled again!!!
Ok i will make piece with that… there is nothing more i can do about it…
except that the other day… two girls talking behind my back, when they though i was not listening… they were discussing the state of my 7ejab…
“Waaaay 7ejabha im3alaaaaaaaaaach… mayom sheft.ha 7jabha mo im3alach… hahahaha”
:~(
So today… i have decided to devise a plan.. im ticking off those actions one by one…
1- Steam the 7jab at night as usual, then wear it in the morning.. and STEAM IT AGAIN while its on my head… might get my head burned ishwaya… o no guarantee inah wont wrinkle by the time i reach my destination… bs i will try and see
2- After ironing the 7jab… i would spray it with hair spray! Problem is if there is residue it would mean i would have to wash it daily… what if i spray it and it wonts fold around my head anymore? Need to try that out
3- try and train my self to resemble a statue at madam tussauds meusem… moving only when absolutely necessary…
B3d golooolee shasawee ib 3mry!!! Elee 3ndah 7al khal yr7m 7alee o ygoolee…
Tommorow insha2 allah i will share another dethara aspect…

hmmm dearest danderma what is this :/ loyaa ok for the 7jabat i don’t wear them bs my mom does and after i iron them for her i let them cool down then fold them into little squares and smooth out any creases and stack them in her closet. when she takes one out to wear they are fine no creases or any of the sort..
as for wearing them madri can’t help there.. but for cloathes and shailat there is that spray that they sell it minimizes if not eliminates creases from clothes.. check in detergents section in sultan or jam3eya..
and with clothes just when sitting down in car or office crease out your outfit and trust me it will be crease free for houuuuurs to come.. it depends on how u sit on the chair w kil shay eyt3lach ta7tich.. so next time just crease them out and you’ll be fine..
as for creases in jeans, before wearing them throw them in the dryer for 10-15 min they come out as good as new without ironing.. that saved me MEGA time ayam elstudent life
hope any of this helps :/
LOOOL ok if you only why I am laughing….I am still living at my parents home yet every morning when I wake up early in the morning, house helpers are still asleep….note that I am NOT a girl who decides what to wear from the night before….anyho, so this morning I wanted to wear this yellow top that I have and love….I had to Iron it myself since the helpers are asleep (plus I do not trust them when it comes to clothes I like),…..I went back to my room and put the top on, looked in the mirror and the horror!! NO! like I wasted a whole 10 minutes into thin air…I went back to the ironing room and ironed the damn top again….It looked better….I just walked in the office and looked in the mirror and I wish I didn’t spend all this time ironing cuz it just went to waste…
Ahlain!! Way il 9ara7a mit min il thi7ik 3ala a5ir shay.. oo not in a mean way! Thank you for making me smile min il 9ib7!
Ok now for the advice… I haven’t tried this myself bss jarabtay Merito? Hatha illi irishoona 3ala il ‘3itra gabl ma yakwoonha 3ashan it9eer shwaya yabsa… I think that’s a better alternative to hairspray.. ;D
Oo as for the pristine people who’s clothes never get wrinkled.. 7abibti I bet you those guys rush home every hour oo shway 3ashan they get their clothes reironed.. la2anna there is NO WAY inna anyone can keep wrinkable clothes wrinkle-free…

ahahahahahahah … sorry but i dont wear hijabs so i cant help … but the hair spray plan might work … but u know what will be better?
u know these girls that laugh behind ur back? ya … take that hair spray and hide it under ur jacket or blouse and arrive to work with ur hijab extra wrinkled … listen up for their comments … when they start laughing take the bottle of spray out and spraaaaay them till it finishes … then put it back and walk to ur office … nice? lol
OMG.. i’m loving this Dathra saga!
Its Funnyyyy and anyone (who is normal) Can Relate to it!!
about the iron thing, personally ana ma a3teref eb shay esma iron, unless i’m in Q8 Lool.. makes life so much easer ;p
I usually neatly hang the clothes while they are still damp on the laundry rack, which takes care of the wrinkles..
bloosa still m3afessa? no prob! I wear a cardigan over it and problem solved!
its easier to be worry free
i missed you daddy’s girl,,, and i’m loving this new series,,, it cracks me up whenever i read something,,,
as for the wrinkled clothes,,, maybe you should try buying other fabrics,,, like chiffon and crepe for 7jabs.. they don’t get wrinkled as fast,,, the same goes for clothes,,, try getting clothes that withstand all our movements,,, like jersey’s, chiffons,,, plus pants don’t wrinkle as much as skirts,,, and tops don’t get wrinkled easily too,,, so i think it’s all in the fabrics and the garment itself…
hope this help :*
looool, nafs ilmoshkila wiyya dishadeeshna tara
Serenade: AGREED!
1. Choose your fabrics wisely. Linens are a no-no for tops and definitely not for work. Hejabs are better the thicker the material is. And you know what’s best? Those double-layered ones; they have a high threshold for creases.
2. Get your housemaid to do the ironing for you EVERY time you use a hejab.
3. Get the plastic thick hangers. Hand them over to the maid in the ironing room; dedicate a spacious cabinet for your hejabs in your dressing room; teach the maid the routine.
And you are well dressed and care free
i guess u should try n not buy cloths or meterials that crumple.. as starters..
but hey helow! its only natural that when u sit on ur cloths ebyet3fesoon!!!
u know wt :p wear a 3abaya :p a7san 7aal! hahaha
eli tkalemaw 3an el fabrics sa7 kalamhom most of my hijabs dont crease coz of the fabric bs la tese’eleni shesm el fabric ma3rfa :s Also I have to let u in on a secret of how to wear the hijab as to never to need pins and such to put on
I never have to wear pins
Except when the on6a thingy is too big a7e6 pin ta7at 3shan e9ek 3adil 3ala rasi
yara,, please teach us your secret,,, pretty please? :*
I always use steamers for all my clothes when I dont find anyone to iron my clothes… I hate ironing YOU HAVE NO IDEA! And while I was in the States… I did the same thing you did!! I take them for laundry service near by! There are iron free clothes but then you will be limited… my clothes get wrinkly but not as bad as you described it hehehe but really i cannot leave the house unless my clothes are ironed or so!
I can’t live without linens and cottons, and yes, they wrinkle. If you use liquid starch (sometimes Sultan Salmiyya has it) and iron cotton / linen the night before and hang it somewhere not touching anything overnight, so it is perfectly dry and unwrinkled when you put it on, the pristine condition lasts longer. There are always going to be crease marks if you sit in linen and cotton – it’s a nature of the fabric.
when i was living at home , my clothes eshzeeenhum all ironed and pressed
bs when i went to university … the iron mama bought me never made it out of the box
i HATE ironing
im3alach imbahdal too freaking bad that how im wearing it !
now im bk home and all nice and wrinkle free
